“Freedom’s Expense”
Oh Lord! I crieth out again to Thee
That Thou might come once more to my rescue,
And with Thy Word the Path of Life to shew
The verse in which Thou speakst, forgiving me.
Tis Grace, that bought and maketh Remedy
And Thou withholds Thy Judgement, overdue
Though I hath sinned so greatly against You,
Yet may I shelter in Thy tall Mercy.
I hath not just Thy presence chased away,
But in my darker moods bound Thee in chains –
Ignoring Thy Wisdom; what Thou wouldst say.
Hence nothing hath I gained; brought only pains
Unto myself. Now freedom has been priced
At the expensive cost of Jesus Christ.
That Thou might come once more to my rescue,
And with Thy Word the Path of Life to shew
The verse in which Thou speakst, forgiving me.
Tis Grace, that bought and maketh Remedy
