"Dragon heart"

The war is done, the battle fought,
The victims among the rotting or caught.
The soldiers have fallen, their loved ones alone,
The dragon’s heart broken, and changed into stone.
Neither side won, neither has lost.
Both lay defeated, and paid a huge cost.
Endeavour to save the dragon from death
Has brought nothing the saving but anger and wrath.

Actually i wanted to send this out a while ago, but i couldn't quite get the last line.
Now it's finally finished!
