Your Smile
That smile, so rare, it haunts your face.
And when it does appear, you are the image of grace.
Oh if I could see that look, even if just for a while!
Is there any thing I can do to make you smile?
I can see the twitch ready when you are with friends,
Waiting to express glee before the instant ends.
And still, after the moment is done, the smile lingers
Like the delicious taste of KFC upon your fingers.
If I grinned myself silly, all day long,
Would that make you smile?
If I lost myself in the crowded throng,
Would you smile for a while?
If I fell flat on my face before the whole school,
Would that grin of yours come?
If I learnt to love korean dramas as a golden rule,
Would glee finally succumb?
Oh Steph, you have asked me why I'm depressed.
And the answer to that is that your smiles you repressed.
But how should it affect me? I know you wonder.
It is when you look sad that my heart tears asunder.
I am at my wit's end here. Tell me what I should do.
I am lost for ideas save to shout AJA AJA HWAITING at you
And watch for a reaction. But we know the rift is too wide.
Too wide to jump, too deep to climb, to leap to your side.
Oh, I walk to the train tracks. You shall be the first and last.
And when it does appear, you are the image of grace.
